Approval of minutes from 1/22/10
Motion from Angie to approve minutes from 1/22/10. Seconded by Romney. Unanimous approval.

Stats and Updates from Ronnie
Limited car break ins, limited mostly to theft of articles within the car, as opposed to the entire car itself.
This year was a relatively safe Mardi Gras compared with past years.
Suspects have been arrested for the shooting on S. Gayoso and for the car jacking on Jefferson Davis.
Computers for MCSD cars have been ordered and paid for. The computers have most likely arrived however there has been a hold up with installation due to Mardi Gras. The laptops will only take a few hours to be installed.
One of the more significant arrests in January linked a person to 4 auto burglaries. An MCSD officer was the first responder. Officers were then able to recover stolen property that had been taken out of several cars. A search warrant was carried out and additional property was found taken in other burglaries.

Financial Update from Becker
The MCSD has paid the officer's payroll, the Verizon bill for the cell phones and the cost of the computers. The current balance for the MCSD is $516,000.

Legislative Auditors Proposals
Becker sent out the legislative auditors proposals. Both firms, Bourgeois Bennett in Metairie and Erickson Krentel & Laporte LLP in Mid-City are reputable firms.
Erickson Krentel gave us a proposal for three years. Their fixed fee is $1,000 less than Bourgeois Bennett and they are local to Mid-City.
A motion was made by Romney to hire Erickson to perform the legislative audit. This was seconded by Susan. Unanimous approval.
Becker will contact the firms and will tell Erickson to provide us with a formal engagement proposal.
The cost is $5,000 per year with a 3% interest increase each year.

Survey Update
75% of the surveys have been tabulated including those submitted online.
Surveys may be used to bolster the MCSD website's FAQ section.
Final results will be shared with residents. The results will also be used to compare progress of the MCSD over the lifetime of the district.

Update on refill of commissioner spot by MCNO
MCNO has indicated they will have a replacement for their appointment by Tuesday. The president of MCNO will send us a letter stating their choice for a new commissioner.

Endymion Discussion
During Mardi Gras the MCSD was able to fill a lot of shifts, except for when parades were going, when most of the officers were already working and did not have additional hours available to work.
The weekend of Mardi Gras was very difficult to cover the shifts with officers working 12-16 hour shifts already.

Motion to adjourn at 7:03 pm was made by Romney and 2nded by Susan. Unanimous approval.
