Becker put together an engagement letter including the responsibilities that were already agreed upon including preparing checks, managing the general ledger, recording cash, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements and journal entries and assisting with the annual audit, preparing 10-99's and attending monthly meetings. Becker prepared us a quarterly bill for her services. Becker has gotten one proposal for a legislative auditor and is about to receive a second. The legislative audit is due by June 30, 2010. The board will compare the proposals. Stats and Updates from Ronnie Things are holding steady for the most part, Sgt. Stevens is working to really begin to put a dent in the numbers of crimes being committed in the district. We would like to see the numbers going down soon. Burglaries and thefts are the biggest problem for the area. Mid-City is a central hub that lacks natural boundaries, thus allowing for a great deal of vehicular and foot traffic, an increased levels of crime. With regard to the cell phones issued to officers, Jolie mentioned it might be helpful to mention to the public that if you do get a voicemail it is typically because the officer is outside of the car, dealing with an incident. Every day Ronnie updates a book that is available in each MCSD car to let the officers know what has happened in the district and to provide the officers information on what to look out for. Between August when the MCSD began and the end of December, the MCSD officers made 246 arrests. Newsletter Round II Items to possibly include in the next newsletter are: the MCSD emblem to describe what the MCSD cars look like; Which numbers to call and when; good news; new commissioner; MCSD map. In order to produce two newsletters per year, we should send the next newsletter in April.
